Sweetly Wrapped

“It all began a few years ago when a friend gave me a Rainbow Brite book she’d found in a charity shop. The illustrations were fabulous; so vibrant and full of nostalgia! I’m a fashion designer by day and I’d already been making wallets with retro crisp packets and sweet wrappers as a little recycling side project. But these pages were perfect!

Sandwiched between two layers of recycled PVC, the illustrations were protected from sunlight and water. Not only were they preserved, now they had a practical use too. From wallets to cardholders, to passport covers and book covers… So now I upcycle these wonderful, vintage, book pages!

The books I use are in such a state, they can’t be sold in charity shops and I salvage those few pages. You may recognise some from your childhood! As I make them in my studio on the industrial sewing machines, each one is completely unique.”
