Paper Tash

Natasha is a North Devon based Artist/Illustrator/Designer Her creative pathway began at Petroc college leaving with a national diploma focused then, in 3D design progressing to a B A Illustration/Graphics at SCAT Uni.

Natasha’s creative skills combine multimedia techniques often layering pint, sketch, inks, gouache, pen and paper cutting. More recent works focused her skills utilising the humble versatility of paper and ephemera discovering the repurposing of the otherwise discarded. Papercutting into historical maps, vintage ladybird books even old utility bills and the inside of envelopes!

As a keen Naturalist residing almost upon the local marsh and coastline it was inevitable the natural world would greatly enrich and reflect in her works. Later underpinning her process of intricate filigree papercuts simplified flora and fauna forms and delicate structures framed to enhance shadows cast, which become just as integral to the cuts themselves.

These doily like tactile pieces are constructed usually from one piece of paper. Previous works multi-layered cuts housed in box frames or light boxes drawing the eye into miniature scenes like theatre maquettes. As well as being a lone ranger enjoying the challenges of interpreting bespoke personalised commissions Natasha has greatly welcomed the opportunity to work collaboratively
